Anna (Smalley) Donaldson Dedication Event

On June 9, 2024, 70 people gathered together for the Anna (Smalley) Donaldson Headstone Dedication at Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, WA. The event brought together direct descendants of three of the children of Jessee and Anna (Smalley) Donaldson’s 10 children, with family traveling from eastern Washington, Nevada, and California.

• The program included:
  • Introductory remarks by Ryan Anthony Donaldson, 5th generation grandson of Jessee & Anna (Smalley) Donaldson
  • Remarks by Author & Historian Cynthia Wilson, author of the new book Black Civil War Veterans In Washington State (The History Press), with one of the chapters devoted to Civil War veteran Jessee Donaldson. Cynthia had books available for presale and signed them for guests.
  • Headstone dedication reading by Rose Donaldson-Kirby, 4th generation granddaughter of Jessee & Anna (Smalley) Donaldson, and unveiling of headstone by children of the Donaldson extended family
  • Reception with catered lunch by Soulfusion, a local Black business that provides onsite catering services
